Here is another entry for the Upcycle Challenge of 2018. I picked up the metallic purple fabric and the satin as remnants on a whim because they were greatly reduced in price. I do not typically sew with special occasion fabrics but I thought that perhaps with time I would find a purpose for them. The very next day I found two sheer embroidered curtain panels with a lovely scalloped edge at the thrift store and they ended up matching the remnants I bought the previous day perfectly. I took this as a sign that it was meant to be and I needed to dive in to uncharted territory and make something fabulous! I knew when I saw the curtains that they could only be one dress and that’s the Cairo from Violette Field Threads. I’ve been wanting to photograph one of my makes at the beach for a long time but nothing I made quite fit the bill until now. My daughter and I had a lot of fun during our photo shoot despite it being quite windy. I hope that I can inspire someone else to step outside of their comfort zone and try something new; they may be pleasantly surprised!
What a beautiful upcycle!
