Heather Hamblin – Project #4
My oldest will be starting kindergarten in the fall so my mind has been thinking school. She prefers dresses & it’s hard to get her to wear anything else. I know some school activities will require non-dress attire so I’ve been trying to upcycle some things that will still feel like a dress to her while being practical for some of her school activities. When I found this boy’s button up top I thought it would make a super cute top that would feel like a dress for my daughter. The bias tape was something leftover from a sewing project a few years ago & I was happy to put it to good use. As I looked at the button up & envisioned my upcycle I knew I wanted to use some of the topstitching details. So I cut the front bodice high enough to catch the back panel’s topstitching & of course used the button closure for my back racerback look. Now this boy’s shirt has a feminine feel & came out like a rose.
