So here is my upcycle of a man’s twill shirt and some groovy striped fabric from my stash. I used your tip about viewing a charity shop garment as fabric and imagining how the pattern pieces would fit, as well as reusing features, in this case some of the pockets and buttons. I have to confess I misjudged whether the pattern pieces would fit and ran out of fabric. A happy accident as it turned out, as a rummage through my upcycling stash turned up an old suede jacket. This focussed my project in a new way and pushed me beyond my original vision. I also tried out some free motion embroidery embellishment and fell for this pattern hook, line and sinker. It’s a twig and tale trailblazer vest with fisherman’s add on. Made to inspire an upcycle and I would never have taken the plunge without the upcycle challenge and that shirt calling to me from the sale rail. Thank you! from Lorna (and Thomas the fisherman in training)
