2018 Upcycling Challenge

Maggie Mayfield

When I found this linen dress at the thrift store I first noticed the beautiful embroidery! The dress was a size too small and I’m not a fan of the halter style on me. No problem! I knew I could upcycle it into something my style and wanted do something fun with that amazing embroidery. While ripping the seams I realized I wouldn’t get much usable fabric from the halter top, so I browsed my pattern stash for a project that would use smaller pattern pieces. I decided on McCalls 7572 and the deep V-neck was the perfect spot to feature the embroidery. I love the contrast of the gorgeous blue I chose for the cut of new fabric.
