Polly Meza
My name is Polly from My Petite Sophie (IG @mypetitesophie). I was very excited when I first heard of the Upcycling Challenge but due to previous engagements I thought I won’t be able to participate. Luckily the deadline was extended and here I am, at the last minute, submitting my project. 🙂
Some info about the dress I made:
I am a very avid buyer of ‘fabric’ at thrift stores. The moment I saw this brand new skirt I knew I wanted to turn it into a dress for my big girl. With all that beautiful embroidery, who wouldn’t want that? I used the lining of the original skirt for the bodice of the dress but it looked a little too plain so I decided to resew it again (yes, I had finished the whole dress when I decided it was too plain) with a tulle overlay – the reason you don’t see the sparkly tulle in the before picture. The lining of the dress is made out of grey cotton I bought at JoAnn’s and a double layer tulle ruffle that peaks under the skirt. It was a very quick sew until I decided to add beads at the bottom of the bodice but I think it was worth it. My girl loves it and so do I.
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this challenge!

This is so pretty; what girl doesn’t love a little sparkle?
