Sapporo Coat – The coat is made from a lime wool blanket and lined with “for you – apple -combo”. It was very important to me to reuse the ribbon from the blanket, this is used along the seam at the front of the coat, to highlight this diagonal seam and again at the edge of the cuffs. I altered the pattern to make full-length sleeves. When I spotted the blanket I knew I couldn’t leave it in a charity shop – I had to buy the blanket and have a go at making a coat, despite feeling intimidated by the project. This is the first coat and lined garment I have made, thank you to the competition I was encouraged to have a go and stretch my sewing skills. I love the result.
